Onam 2026 at Treneywann ”” Dance, Song, Pookalam & One Very Serious Game of Musical Chairs
Once a year, our hospital administration training institute in Vyttila, Kochi trades case studies for flower petals. Solo and group dances, Onam songs, a hand-laid pookalam and a musical chairs final that nobody has stopped talking about ”” here is how our students and faculty celebrated Kerala's biggest festival in 2026.
A Festival, Not a Holiday
At Treneywann Management Studies, Onam is the one day the timetable surrenders. This year, our hospital administration students celebrating Onam arrived early ”” long before the first class would normally begin ”” carrying baskets of chethi, jamanthi and thumba flowers up to our second-floor campus at Creative Tower, Kaniyampuzha Road.
By mid-morning, the floor outside the Hinall HMS lab had disappeared under a spiralling pookalam, laid petal by petal by batchmates who usually spend that hour practising hospital billing entries. Then the stage took over: a solo dance that silenced the room, a group dance that pulled half of it to its feet, solo and group song performances where faculty proved they could hold a tune, and a round of musical chairs that got very competitive very quickly ”” all captured in the photos and videos below.
We share these moments because they show something a syllabus page cannot: TMS is a community first. The same people cheering each other on in these pictures are the ones who help each other through NABH documentation practicals, mock interviews and first-job nerves. That is what studying here feels like.

Onam Games ”” Musical Chairs
Every Onam at TMS ends the same way: chairs in a circle, music on, dignity optional. This year's musical chairs competition started as a friendly warm-down and ended as the most fiercely contested event of the day ”” faculty included, no special treatment given or received.
The final two circled a single chair for what felt like a full minute of held breath before the music cut. We will not name the winner here ”” they have been insufferable enough on campus ”” but the photo above in the highlights gallery captures the exact moment the room erupted. If you ever wondered whether hospital administration students can handle pressure, watch them fight for a plastic chair.
Why a Hospital Administration Institute Celebrates Onam This Seriously
Hospital administration is people work. Front-office coordination, patient relations, HR, team handovers ”” every module we teach ultimately comes down to how well you work with other human beings. Days like Onam are where that culture gets built. Students who lay a pookalam together at 8 a.m. find it much easier to run a mock discharge desk together at 11.
Since our founding in 2020 by K. Prabhikrishnan, Onam has been celebrated at TMS every single year.
