Former Kerala Media Academy Director M. Ramachandran Takes a Telemedicine Session at Treneywann, Vyttila

M. Ramachandran — former Director of the Kerala Media Academy, the Government of Kerala’s media-training institution, author of Public Relations and Advertising (Kerala Media Academy, 2016) and a communication professional of 35+ years — took a guest session on telemedicine for the hospital administration batch at Treneywann Management Studies, a hospital administration training institute at Vyttila, Kochi. He joins Treneywann as Senior Guest Lecturer.

Why telemedicine is on a hospital administration syllabus

Telemedicine appears in Treneywann’s curriculum within the digital-health module, alongside ABDM and electronic health records. A tele-consultation still has to be scheduled, consented, recorded, billed and followed up — all administrative functions — and it is the one setting where the hospital’s entire relationship with the patient runs through communication rather than a physical front desk. That is the intersection at which a communication and public-relations specialist has something specific to teach hospital administrators.

About the speaker

M. Ramachandran joined the Kerala Press Academy (now Kerala Media Academy) in 1994 when its Public Relations and Advertising Department was set up, served as Lecturer, Course Co-ordinator, Assistant Director (2001) and Director (2008), and is the author of the Academy’s own text, Public Relations and Advertising. Between 1995 and 2008 he was also guest faculty at the Indian Centre for Hospital Administration, Cochin, among other institutions. Full profile: M. Ramachandran, Senior Guest Lecturer.
