When MSc Nursing Is Clearly the Right Choice
We would rather say this plainly than sell you the wrong course.
- You want to teach. Nursing college faculty posts require MSc Nursing. This course will not substitute, now or later.
- You want clinical specialisation — critical care, paediatrics, psychiatric nursing, oncology as a clinical discipline.
- You want an academic or research path, or to progress towards a PhD.
- Your target employer explicitly requires a postgraduate nursing degree — some government and large institutional posts do.
- You can afford two years out and want the strongest long-term qualification on file.
When the Nursing Administration Course Is the Better Buy
- You want the supervisory post in your current hospital, and what is missing is administrative capability and a certificate, not a postgraduate degree.
- You cannot stop working. For most working nurses this is decisive, and it is not a small consideration — two years of lost salary is a far bigger cost than the fee of either course.
- You are a GNM holder. MSc Nursing requires a BSc first; this course does not.
- You want the specific skills — rostering, staffing norms, NABH nursing standards, quality indicators, incident documentation. MSc Nursing touches administration as one subject; here it is the entire syllabus.
- You want it this year. Six months, ₹20,000, done.
Doing Both
A reasonable number of nurses do this course first and MSc Nursing later. The order makes sense: the administration training pays back immediately in the job you already hold, costs little, and does not interrupt your income — and if you later go for MSc Nursing, you arrive having actually run a unit, which makes the administration components of the degree considerably less abstract.
What we would not advise is treating this course as a substitute for MSc Nursing if teaching or clinical specialisation is your goal. It isn’t one, and any institute that implies otherwise is misleading you.
What This Course Awards, Precisely
Two certificates in each programme. The 6-month awards the TTMSTRCT Council Trust Diploma and a UGC-approved university Advanced Skill Certification; the 3-month awards the TTMSTRCT Council Trust certificate and a UGC-approved university Skill Certification. Stated plainly: the nursing administration course is not MSc Nursing and not an Indian Nursing Council qualification. It does not change your clinical registration and does not by itself make anyone a Nursing Superintendent. It is an administration and management training for nurses, with two certificates including a UGC-approved university skill certification.

No. MSc Nursing is a two-year INC postgraduate nursing qualification. The nursing administration course is a 3- or 6-month administration and management training for nurses, awarding a TTMSTRCT certification and a UGC-approved university skill certification. It does not replace MSc Nursing.
Can I teach in a nursing college after this course?
No. Nursing college faculty posts require MSc Nursing. This course does not qualify you to teach.
Which is better for becoming a nursing superintendent?
For the administrative capability the role consists of — rostering, staffing, NABH, quality, documentation, people management — this course is the more directly relevant training, and it can be done while working. I have GNM. Can I do MSc Nursing?
Not directly — MSc Nursing requires BSc Nursing, so a GNM holder would need Post-Basic BSc first. The nursing administration course accepts GNM directly.
